About The Generals
General Roots are a six piece reggae band created in 2008. Growing up in the same area of North London with a shared love of dub, dancehall and roots reggae, they were eager to reignite the power and flavor of the reggae movement through the latter part of the 20th century. The Generals are on a mission to bring a new sound to people’s ears whilst capturing the classic sound and feel that was coming out of Jamaica during the 1970′s and 80′s. General Roots live shows come with high energy vibes and feel good sound, Guaranteed!
Field Marshall Fred and The Minister always lead the crowd into battle, supported by dark echoes and treble heavy chops from guitarist Joe Price, powerful keys from King Solomon Boundy and the best rhythm section in town, James and Ben McKone. The combination of dark dub, lovers rock and dancehall with attitude always keep the audience on their feet, with the riddims dictating which way to bump, grind and skank!
The band are quickly making a name for themselves on the live circuit with 2012 proving a busy year. Performances at festivals such as Outlook (Croatia), Secret Garden Party (UK), Boomtown Fair (UK) & Echo (Croatia) and touring and supporting with the likes of Channel One Soundsystem, Gentleman's Dub Club, Top Cat, Congo Natty, Laid Blak, Terry Hall (The Specials), SHY FX, The Heatwave, Mala & Many more!
